Tell us about yourself?
Well, I am
called Julien Fournier; I was born back in 1991, Mountain Cycle was three when i was born! I live in
Monthey, which is just down the mountain from Champery (DH WC in '07) and the Portes du Soleil ski / bike area.. I am in my 1st year of college to become a control engineer at the
Monthey chemical site.
How did you start riding MTB, and what do you like in this
sport?
I rode on a real MTB for the first time in 2004 when
Ben Walker came to coach my BMX club. He made me test his bike, and I quickly dropped the BMX... for an MTB! I did not hurt so badly any more with my back and the wrists at the
end of the day... I began with a street bike, then the season after, I got a team contract for a freeride bike.
What I like with MTB, is the diversity: street, dirt or descent. But my preference remains Slopestyle
which mixes the other disciplines.
Do you have other passions?
I love to ski, I ride the snowparks near my house such as Superpark of Crosets or in Avoriaz. I like to
go to my family's country cottage to spend hours in a chair looking at
the landscape and the few cows which pass from time to time... I also
like to have good time with my friends or with my girlfriend Marie...
- How do you see your season?
The next season, I would like to take part in big Slopestyles like the District Ride or Adidas Slopestyle. I would also like to improve my tricks,
my style and go faster in descent. I would
like to spend less time working my homework, but that, it is
not too possible!
Which are your training secrets ?
I do not have training secrets without not to have 'big' head. Ride is what I prefer so I try to the maximum not to badly be done by taking useless
risks
What do you like at Mountain Cycle?
The best thing ever is the Battery. I was happy to be given one of the Prototypes to test and give feedback - andIt is the
bicycle which is best for my style and my ride.
It is really perfect for Slopestyle and large Dirt. Its geometry and
its suspension ensure the bike gives you an error margin without
handicapping the ride feel. I was also really happy to work with Lois and Krien at Mountain Cycle - they have given me the confidence to push myself further in 2007 within a team.
