Crash!

Fresh news from a our SoCal HQ, we would like to make a warm welcome to Dave “Crash” Collins; long time friend of MC, underground race promoter, and now artist…

Amongst other things, Crash runs a series of races in/around Bootleg Canyon, one of our favourite places to ride & home of the Interbike Dirt Demo (And spiritual home to our dearly departed friend Brent).

We’ve been proud to help Crash make these races happen, as over the last couple of years they have gained a superb reputation for fun, clean and honest racing.

We’ve attended as sponsors/exhibitors, sponsored the uplift trucks, given away prizes, and now were delighted that Crash has decided to come on board and help us out by hauling on one of our bikes.

He’s recently kicked off the cobwebs and come out of retirement to race in a select few events, including the invitational race at renowned Woodward West, where he says “the bike handled Fricken Awesome!!”

You can find out all about Crash Innovations over here

If you take a close look at the photos, you’ll notice something pretty distinctive on the mainframe, some custom hand-painted artwork that I think looks pretty darn fine…

We sometimes get asked the question “why doesn’t my bike have decals on the front frame?” Crash has answered that question; we’ve left you a blank canvas because you have to get inspired and make that bike your own!

Bike Radar

Owen stopped in at Bike Radar (the mothership of MBUK, What Mountain Bike and various narfy road magazines) the other day, dropping off some hot product for review.

Keep your eyes peeled for more!

Nice Shockwave Video

A Shockwave and some nasty Giant thing (ahum..) playing in the woods in the UK.

The link to the vid was pinged over by one of our biggest fans in the UK, Jon Morley who’s been ripping a Shockwave for a few seasons now.

Big shout out also to the film-smith Paul Roberts, who’s also got some other great vids on PinkBike worth checking out.

Testing the BOS

A couple of months ago, we gave you a sneak peek and told you that we were working closely with the famed engineers at BOS suspension.

its been interesting watching them work, there’s no doubt that their grasp of suspension dynamics is amongst the very best in the world. Not talking about the mountain bike world, these guys make world-class suspension systems for racing cars, most of their clients they can never talk about.

What was especially interesting to learn from them, when we took a really detailed look at our suspension systems, how they react to bumps, and interact with the rider. We learned to quite a few things about our bikes, especially the Shockwave, and the good news was that we didn’t learn any bad news…!

We all know that there is no such thing as “the perfect suspension system”, but the lesson I took away with me was that a well designed, solidly engineered  pivot, with a linkage driven actuation of the shock, when calculated correctly; is about as perfect as can be made. Like on the Shockwave!

It may be a few months before we give you the next update, but keep your eyes on this blog for more news about BOS!

Bye bye Vegas

we won’t be sorry to hear the Interstate tonight, and get the heck out of Vegas for another year.

This is certainly a very weird town, especially if you’re here to do business, and all the various crew members of team Mountain Cycle will be happy to head home; to California, Europe and Taiwan.

We have been incredibly busy, and so our apologies for not having blogged daily with updates, they’re just weren’t enough hours in the day.

We have just finished loading up the van, and I’m not entirely sure it’s that good idea to put four Shockwaves onto one tow hitch..?  if we make it home, I’ll make sure we get some more news upon here soon.
