Klunkers

A few years ago there was a seminal moment in the history of the Mountain Bike, when the superb film/documentary Klunkerz was released. It charts the early years of MTB, with contributions from guys you’ll never otherwise have heard of like Otis Guy (one of the very very early adopters of full-suss MTB’s!)

As the Klunkerz site says: Klunkerz is the definitive film about Mountain Bikes, the story of how a bunch of scruffy hippies gave birth to what became a multi-million dollar olympic sport. With contributions from bike legends Charlie Kelly, Gary Fisher and many more, all with the most amazing action!

It’s one of my personal favourites, and I was recently chatting with Director Billy Savage on FaceBook, after the conversation he sent me a copy of his Press Release;

Did you just see what I noticed…. Look again more carefully:

It turns out that, over all the years and through all the changes, it’s the one bike he’s always kept, and it just keeps on riding…!

If you’ve not done so already, go buy a copy of Klunkers now, help out a fellow MC bro’!

It's modest, but it's our new EU home

We’ve been busy over the Xmas break, packing boxes and hauling stuff from our old office, on the industrial park near Rossignol world HQ, to a modest but homely space in an old shop.

We’re not fully up and running yet (France Telecom seem to think it’s normal that a simple re-connection of a phone line takes 6+ weeks…) but we’re gradually getting unpacked and the office will be fully open by next week as planned.

We’re situated in the town of Voiron, near Grenoble in the French Alpes, opposite a church dating to 1150 AD. There’s a pizza place next door, plus a butcher, baker… but no candlestick maker. Instead we have a shop selling Foie Gras…

The reason we chose a shop space is that we’re going to be holding open days for some selected customers in SE France, plus it gives us the light and space to have a mini showroom of our bikes. It’s not a glamorous space, but it’s clean and tidy and much less clinical than the corporate office box space we’ve been in for the past few years.

If you are ever in the area, or perhaps heading to the Megavalanche (Alpe d’Huez is 1hr down the road) then don’t hesitate to drop by:
